Creeping red fescue is a dense, sod-forming grass that extablishes
and spreads vigorously on most soil types, including well-fertilized
subsoils. Its solid root system and thick, fine top growth
make creeping red fescue an excellent grass for streambank
or grass waterway protection. It can also serve as a bottom
grass in long-term pastures and is noted for its extednded
growth period and retained nutritional value in the fall.
Its low-growing habit makes it difficult to cut and unsuitable
for hay.
